Harlequin Racing Club has been set up to give everyone the opportunity to be involved in the sport of Greyhound Racing. You can the Racing Club at any time you wish and your membership will start on the day your membership payment is received.
Harlequin Racing Club have purchased 33% in each of 10 dogs from Harlequin Syndicates.
These 10 purchases have no impact on how Harlequin Syndicates operates as the 33 shares in each dog could have been purchased by anyone at any time.
Harlequin Syndicates is a totally separate business to Harlequin Racing Club.
The reason only 33% shares in each greyhound were purchased, is to give the club a foundation base of 10 Greyhounds that will give the Club members lots of races to watch or attend each week on all levels of the sport from Graders to Open racers and from Pups to experienced racers.
How does Harlequin Racing Club work ?
Harlequin Racing Club will start to have Greyhounds Racing from 1st January 2025. Membership Costs are £25 per month and will never exceed £25 per month
Membership will initially be a 6 month contract and the membership fees will be £25 per month, this payment includes all kennel bills and is set at a maximum of £25 per month, these fees are payable monthly at £25 per month, 3 monthly at £75 per 3 months, 6 monthly at £150 per 6 months or yearly at £300 per year. Once the initial 6 months are over the membership is on a month by month contract or for the length of membership you purchase.
What is included in the membership ?
Each member will pay £25 per month to be part of The Harlequin Racing Club. The money will be split to pay the monthly kennel bills as well as pay towards the capital used to purchase the 10 Greyhounds that form the Racing Club.
Each Greyhound will have a Kennel bill to pay (33% of it) which is roughly £127 per month before prize money deductions or any extras are added by the trainers for the greyhounds needs like physio or vet bills or any open race transports costs. Any extras will be made known to all owners as per the trainers bill to Harlequin. Any excess money will be used to pay off the capital that was used to purchase the 10 x 33% shares.
Once the Capital is repaid to The Racing Club, all of the excess funds will all be regenerated into The Racing Club this is to make future purchases of Greyhounds that become part owned or fully owned by the Racing Club. The Racing Club has a mix of older dogs as well as young pups so that the club has a natural rolling age group.
Excess funds may from time to time be needed to cover Vet bills and welfare issues as well as retirement homing costs, these bills will be 33% of the costs involved as The Racing Club owns 33% of the dog in conjunction with Harlequin Syndicates. If The Racing Club holds a different percentage obviously that will be the proportion of costs the racing club would pay. These funds would come from the Racing Clubs kitty and no member will be asked to pay more than the £25 per month membership.
We do not offer owners passes for the Racing Club, but we shall be speaking to the tracks to see if we can arrange any concessions for the members who wish to attend race meetings and watch their Greyhounds racing.
Prize Money
How does the prize money situation work ?
Each of the 10 Greyhounds win prize money or get run money each month which is listed on the kennel bill. 33% of the prize money or run money will be the Racing Clubs unless a different percentage is owned of the greyhound. The Racing Club will initially be based on 100 members with Harlequin covering the costs of the 100 memberships from day 1 so that the kennel bills will be paid by Harlequin Racing Club to the trainers, as members join they will initially purchase the 100 shares owned by Harlequin. Once these 100 shares are sold the membership is unlimited. Please remember all excess funds are generated back into the Racing Club to generate new Greyhounds and to expand the Racing Club.
The more members there’re the more funds become available which means more dogs racing and more prize money coming into the Racing Club, so the dilution of membership numbers is counteracted by the purchase of new greyhounds and extra prizemoney coming in .
Prize money will be paid on 1st January and 1st July each year to each member on a pro rata basis initially dependant on when joining the Racing Club.
Total Prize money won divided initially by 100 members will give each member their personal pay out amount due, Harlequin will give each months breakdown to the Racing club via email each month so each member knows the exact figures each month. Once we have over 100 members the prize money will be divided by the membership numbers.
If you decide to leave The Racing Club you will be paid your prize money up and till your membership expires in full.
- Harlequin Racing Club will re invest all excess funds back into the Racing Club for future purchases of new Greyhounds, any vet bills that may need to be covered and any welfare issues that may need to be addressed along with any retirement charges that need to be covered.

The planned moves to the English trainers is where we think the dogs will be best suited but after they race in Ireland it may become apparent that the dog would be better suited elsewhere. At all times the Harlequin Racing Clubs greyhounds will be placed at the tracks we think they will be best suited at and from time to time they may change trainers. No dog is restricted to be trained by 1 trainer for its entire career.

Greyhound Profiles
Harlequin Brinn Currently racing at Central Park and has stepped up to 4 bend racing very well. Brinn has won a few races now and is a very nice young puppy with a nice future ahead.
Harlequin Cindy Currently racing at Central Park and will be hoping she can make it to open class once she returns from a small injury she has sustained.
Harlequin Dahy Qualified in 28.96 at Shelbourne Park and has a 21.28 unofficial at Dundalk, Dahy moved to Paul Foster at Swindon and is the leading Greyhound in Harlequin Racing Club on stats with over 40% strike rate in his races up to 20th September 2025.
Harlequin Gee Up was Swift Imperial and purchased from Ian Greeves after clocking a 29.18 in his first ever 525 at Kilkenny prior to Christmas. Gee Up has won a few races and has run his heart in the Irish Derby and Derby plate this year, even thou he does not stay the 550 trip he is in the semi final of the Derby Plate.
Harlequin Flewin Ellie as she is known as has joined the Racing Club. Ellie was a large purchase from Ireland and is expected to turn into a very good marathon performer in time and when fully fit from seasonal rest.
Harlequin Junior Junior as he is known is a product of the Harlequin Irish academy and has progressed very well since we purchased him in early 2025. Junior has had 1 race, showing great early pace and finished 2nd in a very nice time for a unraced puppy. Junior is now based at Yarmouth where his early pace has seen him win 4 races to date, his early pace is a huge asset and he is kennelled with Jason Bloomfield.
Harlequin Manila : Manila is a home reared puppy by Harlequin and was schooled and raced at Central Park by Barry O’Sullivan initially, winning a 277m race at Central Park we have moved Manila to Hove as we feel the 500m trip will be more to her liking but she didnt quite see it out so we have moved her to Yarmouth over the 462m trip. Based at Yarmouth with Jason Bloomfield we feel Manila is coming along well.
Harlequin Swift Currently racing at Central Park and is racing over the 277m trip, we are hoping in time she will progress to 4 bends.
Harlequin TopGee Ballinabola Eds half brother who is very fast away on a normal basis and has moved from Central Park to Romford for the shorter trip. TopGee tweaked a tendon at Romford so has been moved to a bigger track at Yarmouth and is now based with Jason Bloomfield.
Harlequin Zapper Zapper is back at Yarmouth after a spell at Romford he seems caught between the trips of 462 and 400 and we feel in the summer with the warmer weather he may well see the 462 out stronger than in the winter months. Zapper has progressed from A7 to A2 at Yarmouth and was in good form before injury struck and Zapper is off until early October.

FAQs

How many members in the Racing Club ?
The Racing club has an initial 100 memberships owned by Harlequin, thus ensuring the initial kennel bills will be covered. Once the initial 100 memberships are sold the membership is unlimited.
Ballot / Votes
If there is a need for a vote or ballot you will receive 1 vote or 1 ticket into the ballot for each membership you own. If there is a hung vote Harlequin will have the casting vote.
Does the Racing Club have an expiry date ?
No, the Racing Club cover the costs of all Racing Club dogs owned until they are re homed or otherwise placed into retirement.
What happens when a Greyhound Retires ?
When a greyhound retires from racing we then have the choice to home the greyhound or put the greyhound into a breeding syndicate. If a Racing club dog is used for breeding we shall inform the Racing Club of the terms of the breeding syndicate or deal done with the breeder.
Homing Process
If the greyhound is put up for homing the membership will be given the first refusal to home the greyhound along with the Harlequin Syndicate members that may own shares in the Greyhound. You do not have to home a greyhound unless you wish to do so. If more than 1 person from the syndicate or the Racing club wishes to home the greyhound a balloted draw shall take place at the kennels, the people wishing to home the greyhound will receive 1 entry into the draw per % of the greyhound that they own, the draw will be made by the trainer. Each application to home a greyhound will first be checked by the trainer of the greyhound to ensue that the home is suitable for the greyhound as well as the owner is suited to the dog. Full due diligence will take place and if the greyhound is not suited after homing Harlequin will then make more arrangements as needed. We pay the £200 bond fee for each greyhound but we do not feel we shall use this service but if we need to we shall do so.
Do we have insurance ?
No but Each owner can purchase insurance separately, Harlequin can help you with this if needed.
What does the membership payment cover ?
Membership payments are to cover the kennel fees as well as the capital used to purchase the initial 10 greyhounds. Please remember that all excess funds are regenerated into the racing club to grow and expand it.
What are the Monthly Charges ?
There will be no monthly charges on top of the £25 membership fee. The kennel bills are covered by the membership payments
What if all the 100 initial memberships are not sold ?
Harlequin will stand the cost of unsold memberships, this will not be passed to the other members of the Racing Club.
Are there any Membership benefits ?
As a Racing Club member you can visit the greyhounds at their kennels on a Sunday by arrangement with Harlequin via email to info@HarlequinRacingClub.co.uk or via message to Dave Wilson on 07982932905
You will be part of the Racing Club Info Group on Whats App if you wish, data protection consent will be needed to be added to the group, where regular updates and race schedules are posted.
There will be a monthly newsletter and prize money updates sent out around the 10th of each month once the previous month kennel bills have been received in from the trainers.
Harlequin are working with tracks for entry concessions on race days of our greyhounds for those who wish to go to the tracks, this will be different for all dogs depending what day and if in a competition, full details of each race by race concession will be in the whats app group.
How much was the Capital Expenditure used to purchase the 10 x 33% shares in the Racing Club Dogs
The 10 greyhounds were purchased at the same share prices on offer on the Harlequin Syndicates website (As of 20th December 2024) The total cost was £10,973.82. The greyhounds purchased for The Racing Club are a selection of mainly recently purchased pups along with experienced open race greyhounds as well as home reared pups who are well into their schooling.
How is the Monthly Membership Fee of £25 used ?
Based on 100 members the £25 per month membership is split £12.70 for Kennel Fees and £12.30 to repay the Capital outlay. The £12.70 covers the Kennel fees that are expected, if the kennel fees are higher the excess will be deducted from the capital repayment money.
100 memberships per month gives £2500. £1270 is assigned to Kennel bills and £1230 to Capital repayments. After 10 months based on 100 members the capital outlay is repaid and from that point all excess funds will start to generate the new purchases and bring in new dogs to the Racing Club. Each new dog pushes up the Kennel bill so we can not exceed our projected kennel bill outlay per month.
What Happens once 100 members are exceeded ?
All excess funds get regenerated into the Racing Club for New Greyhounds as well as making sure there is a kitty to cover any unexpected costs like Vet Bills, Welfare bills and Homing or retirement costs.
Once we exceed 100 members the income then clears the capital outlay quicker or adds to the Greyhounds we purchase, this dilutes the prize money structure in having over 100 members but on the flip side adds in more greyhounds who in turn add to the prize money won. Initially Harlequin will own the first 100 memberships and cover the kennel bills until these 100 memberships are sold. Harlequin will not cover the Capital outlay costs as Harlequin has already made these purchases on behalf of The Racing Club. In practise the Racing Club owes Harlequin the £10,973.82.
